Geoffrey S. Belsher
Managing Director and Group Co-Head, Wholesale Banking, CIBC
Geoff Belsher is Managing Director and Group Co-Head, Wholesale Banking with CIBC World Markets Inc. In addition to responsibility for the firm's global Investment Banking business, including its mergers and acquisitions, public equity and debt financing activities, Geoff has joint responsibility for the strategic direction and day-to-day management of the Wholesale Banking business globally. Geoff also has reporting responsibility for the wholesale banking regional offices in New York, London and Hong Kong.
Prior to joining CIBC in 2009, Mr. Belsher held senior positions at a number of Canadian and global investment banks. During this time, he advised on a wide range of significant domestic and cross border transactions.
Before his career in investment banking, Mr. Belsher was a lawyer at a major Canadian law firm from 1984 to 1997. He practiced in the area of corporate law with a focus on corporate finance and mergers and acquisitions.
Mr. Belsher holds an LL.B. from Osgoode Hall Law School and a B.A. from the University of Toronto. He co-chairs the Wholesale Banking Management Committee of CIBC and is on the board of CIBC World Markets Inc., and certain affiliated companies.
